Estudio Atemporal has developed a project for a house on the outskirts of Valle de Bravo, in the town of San Simón El Alto. The house has the function of a space for refuge in the countryside and connection with the environment, far from the city and more urban areas.

The project is conceived as a contemporary cabin. A volumetric exploration and a reinterpretation of the characteristic elements of the typical cabin, such as pure geometry and the play of light and scales, are carried out.
The program of the house designed by Estudio Atemporal is divided into a public area and a private area. The public area, made up of a living room, kitchen and services, is located under the double height generated by the gabled roof. This cover extends covering the terrace, integrating exterior and interior in a harmonious way.

The private area consists of three rooms, two secondary rooms on the ground floor and the main one on the upper floor, taking advantage of the height of the roof to create an intimate and cozy space.

Wide windows and glass doors in the public area facilitate a direct relationship with the outside by opening completely, allowing the environment to enter the house. In this way, it is possible to generate a necessary connection with the context, leaving the city behind and living in the natural environment.

Project description by Estudio Atemporal

On the outskirts of Valle de Bravo, in the town of San Simón El Alto, a project for a house is being developed.

The particularities of the environment, the play of light and scales, hand in hand with a pure geometry that is characteristic of the typical cabin, allow us a volumetric exploration that responds to the conditions of the terrain. By reinterpreting the elements, we conceive this project as a contemporary cabin.

The program consists of a public area (living room, terrace, kitchen and services), under the double height generated by the gabled roof. This space extends towards the terrace, which as a deck integrates both moments, interior and exterior, in a harmonious way.

The private area consists of three bedrooms, two secondary ones on the ground floor and the main one on the upper floor, taking advantage of the height of the deck to create an intimate and cozy space.

The house serves as a refuge space in the countryside, far from the city and more urban areas.

The gates in the public area allow a direct relationship with the outside when fully opened, allowing the environment to be part of the house at all times. In this way, it is possible to generate a necessary connection with the context, ignoring the site and at the same time exalting it. This gesture achieves the goal of leaving the city behind and experiencing the natural environment.

What are its positive impacts on health, well-being and/or productivity?

Creating an architecture that responds to its context allows generating different moments for its users. This house, designed as a rest house, manages to integrate the need to feel in a cabin in the country without leaving the comforts of a fully equipped house. It becomes an ideal space to rest and connect with the environment.

Atemporal is a multidisciplinary studio made up of architects. It was founded in Mexico City in 2011 with the purpose of creating spaces through a comprehensive design process. The studio is currently led by Luciana de la Garza and Paul Curuchet.

Its design process is based on research and context analysis to understand the present, and reach a proposal that does not refer to the past or condition the future. The studio's ideology is synthesized in its name: “Timeless”, which escapes time, is not conditioned and remains.

Atemporal seeks to create atmospheres and dignify spaces that establish a constant dialogue with their immediate surroundings.
