The filming features a deeply set of sequences performed by Greek dancer Aimilios Arapoglou, reflecting Nakano’s fascination with the world of dance, evoking a variety of layers to think about the water, considering its presence as a metaphorical boundary
“We worked together to recreate this ambivalent feeling we got from performing in the bay of Ishinomaki – one of the areas most devastated by the 2011 tsunami; the ambivalence of water as a simultaneously devastating and repairing force. Here is a dancing portrait of a man on a liminal edge, on the fluid and mirroring frontier of an overwhelming element that evokes both death and rebirth.”
Said this through the choreography, Jalet.
