Wunderkammern

Dan Witz (Wunderkammern). With a career spanning almost four decades, the paintings of Dan Witz (Chicago, 1957), seemingly dark and punctuated with punk, often hide an intimate understanding of the human condition in its most primal form. From his artistic interventions in the streets of New York in the 70s, Dan Witz has developed his career based on the belief that art is necessary, not only to challenge, but also to change the dominant systems of society. The same can be seen in his acclaimed series Mosh pits. Recently presented in collaboration with the French fashion giant, Dior, these hyperrealist masterpieces are astonishing to capture moments of passionate intensity on the part of groups of people imbued with mass.
