The jury gladly received the students' work. After a physical meeting, the jury unanimously selected three proposals for the first, second and third prizes, as well as 10 non-hierarchical mentions of honour.
For the winners' selection, the jury took into account a lot of aspects that span different scales and relate directly to the proposed housing within the city. The winning proposals have recognized the urban shape of the historical centre of Medellin and from the project, are able to generate new dynamics in the area.
Special consideration has been taken for those proposals that blur the boundaries between the building and the public space. Housing is a participant of the city while public space is incorporated into the project. Relationship spaces between housing and urban structure, act as climate filters, places of relationship, leisure and even productivity.

The proposal makes an effort to seek a type of collective housing which establishes links with the rural morphology. Displaced farmers present a housing model and activities represented in height with urban gardens. Elements that emphasize a sense of belonging in such a punished collective.
The homes are resolved efficiently and self-construction is promoted in a non-literal way. Housing is extensible and modifiable within a volume that is scheduled by the architecture itself. A big truss shapes a vertical garden and also acts as a filter between the dwellings and the city.

The project is a clear commitment to a strategy of urban regeneration. An aggregation system allows colonizing different areas of the site, the pre-existing ones and the surroundings through certain specific actions.
A regular pattern creates living spaces for community use on decks and walls. At the same time, it is proposed to rehabilitate the buildings that are obsolete and thus densify the existing fabric.
