YTAA is organized by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe with the support of CCreative Europe – Comisión Europea and World-Architects.com as founding partner. Sponsors to date include Vectorworks, A Nemetschek Company (USA), Albrecht Jung GmbH (Germany) and USM Modular Furniture (Switzerland). YTAA 2016 edition received 211 projects from more than 100 schools of architecture, urban planning and landscaping registered 86 European cities. The jury analyzed and reviewed all proposals panels, drawings, writings and videos submitted by participants before drawing up the list of 30 selected projects. Of the selected projects, the jury found 9 finalists projects representing a broad view of the main interests of the next generation of European designers. From the list of 9 finalists there have been chosen the 3 winners: Iwo Borkowicz, Tomasz Broma and Policarpo del Canto Baquera.

The project proposes a simple and sustainable way to react to the dynamics of demand for tourist accommodation. The jury praised the "glocal" thinking that supports the local community to obtain the tools to address the urban, economic and social changes the city is experiencing.

Housing is a key issue in today's Europe and the project comprises our habitat's impermanence . The jury considers the importance of understanding the architecture as an open process in a constantly changing environment and the potential to create a real-time experimental FabLab connected to an innovative experience of the housing process.
GeoFront. Strategic development plan for the frontier territories, by Policarpo del Canto Baquera, Escuela de Arquitectura de Madrid, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
The project addresses the coexistence's issue and how borders (both political and geographic) can be transformed to enable cohabitation. This proposal is about the role of design as a political tool, as a spatial practice within a new emerging socio-political space. The jury was positively impressed by the amount of superimposed layers of complexity created and the talent in the drawings and the model to explain a new imagined world.
Today, 28th October, at the ceremony taking place in Teatro Piccolo Arsenale in Venecia the three YTAA winners have been awarded:
- 5.000 € each
- a profile at World-Architects.com
- participation in the exhibition EUMiesAward
- a Vectorworks license
- USM furniture to design their own working space
- a diploma
Winners will receive support for the creation of a network of contacts with architects and critics participating in the Prize for Contemporary Architecture of the European Union - Mies van der Rohe Award. From now on, each winner will define a YTAA Action Plan, to be presented at the reception of the award, along with a final report outlining his personal one year experience with YTAA.

El jury considers it important to highlight that this new generation of young professionals has studied abroad, showing their porjects to a great diversity of environments worldwide. From the total of 211 projects, 32% came from out of Europe, while the 26% out of the 179 projects left are designed for countries diffrent from those where the students have been educated.
All the selected finalist projetcs adress and porpose solutions for important contemporary problematics. They are mainly centered in the historic context, its conversion and transformation. Insfrastructure projects that take into account movility and face new challenges where the city is not centerd in cars; In contrast , slow ,movility is directed by the designers instead of by movility experts exclusively. These projects do also respond to different scales, from the territorial one and up to the construction of objects in different contexts, as well as hipotetical environments for more utopic projects.
About YTAA
YTAA aims to support the talent of young architects, urban planners and landscapers recently graduatesd, who will be responsible for transforming our environment in the future. YTAA has emerged from the curiosity and interest in the initial stages in the development of these students and the desire to support his talent since its entry into the professional world. YTAA gathers the most talented newly graduated architects and the best architectural firms. The schools were asked to nominate the Thesis through internal debates. YTAA winners will have the opportunity to find comprehensive strategies enhancing synergies and collaboration with companies and working with the studio of their choice.
