The French DJ, singer and electronic music producer, Martin Solveig, left in the hands of the Parisian filmmaker Mr L'Agent the direction of the video for his latest hit Do it right featuring the Australian singer and rapper Tkay Maidza, and the Ricardo Bofill's Red Wall has been chosen as stage.
Spot colors, strong and warm outside, and pastel to the interior, get an almost surreal aesthetics in the video: red contrasting with the landscape, patios and stairs looking look more or less similar to the sky, reaching for the fusion sometimes. The approach to apply to the building facades a range of different colors responds to the intention to offer a strong relief to different architectural elements, depending on their structural functions- according to study's words.
The Red Wall arises with a clear reference to the Arab popular architecture in the Mediterranean, remembering a casbah, a type of medina or Islamic fortress, and as such the project is built as a fortress that continues to the silhouette of the rocky wall where it stands.
The labyrinthine feeling you get with the plans of Solveig racing up and down stairs, turning corners and crossing courtyards, is also taken into the reality of the Wall. The project was intended to remove the post-Renaissance differentiation between public and private spaces, and evoking a Constructivist aesthetic, creating a set of interconnected courtyards from which you can access to the 50 apartments and to the different terraces that host, among others, the pool and solariums.
The reinterpretation of the casbahresponds in its form to a geometric plan typology of Greek-cross, with 5 meters long arms which are grouped in different ways, leaving the service towers with kitchens and bathrooms at the intersection of the crosses. All this geometric work stands out the continuous approximation to the Constructivism's theories.
