In 1967 Paul McCartney wrote Penny Lane in response to Strawberry Fields Forever, written by John Lennon. The name of this now legendary Beatles' song comes from a real street in Liverpool where John Lennon and Paul McCartney met to catch the bus leading to the city center. However, some scenes of the video were not recorded on this street, now a focus of attraction for fans of the group, but they are from different places: around Angel Lane in London's East End. on King's Road in Chelsea and also Knole Park in Sevenoaks.
This video, along with the one filmed for Strawberry Fields Forever, both directed by Peter Goldman, were selected by the MoMA of New York as one of the most influential from the late 60s.
