The medals are of honorific nature and are awarded annually, since 2011, with the intention of recognizing persons or entities that have contributed significantly with their work and dedication, among other outstanding merits, to the defense of the interests of the profession and of architecture.
The act of delivery was held yesterday November 29, at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. The International Spanish Architecture Awards, announced a few days ago, were also delivered to: the award to Emilio Tuñón Álvarez and Marceline Ruckstuhl - Tuñón & Ruckstuhl Architects GMBH of the Architecture Category Award by the ETH Hönggerberg Gastropavilion in Zurich. In the International Contest Project category, the ex-aequo Prize has been awarded to the New Mali Contemporary Art wing of the Lima Art Museum in Peru by Francisco Burgos Ruiz and Ginés Garrido Colmenero - Burgos & Garrido Associate Architects and the Learning Center at the Paris Saclay University Campus of José Morales Sánchez, Sara de Giles Dubois, Laurent Beaudouin and Emmanuelle Beaudouin - MGM, Morales de Giles Arquitectos + Beaudouin Architectes. And finally, in the Urbanism category, the first prize is awarded to the Cuenca Red plan, the Historic Center in Ecuador of José Luis Vallejo Mateo and Belinda Tato Serrano - Ecosistema Urbano.
