A few days ago we presented the first prize of the competition 'Madrid 0,0' which had as the main goal the design of a number of dwellings specially focused on climate and energy saving aspects. The team Bakpak Architects won the second prize Ex Aequo for his proposal JANO, making use of a typology of housing which goes from one façade to the other one to achieve optimum results in the interior spaces.
Description of the project by Bakpak Architects
The implementation of the building is made by placing a solid volume between the street alignment and a parallel line to the interior from which two fragments are subtracted, both on ground floor, in order to facilitate access and establish perceptual relationships with the environment.
The type of housing goes from one façade to the other one, in order to enjoy double orientation and avoid the need of using the courtyards lighting or ventilation.
Passive energy strategy is based on a southern façade made by greenhouse terraces and a façade to north with a high degree of isolation.
According to the orientation of the building we organice the day program facing the courtyard, a sort of diaphragmatic space, a terrace whose manipulation by residents provide lighting control, ventilation, sunlight and passivated desired climate. The double skin of movable glazing and the shading system with remote control are the basic elements, in addition to insulation systems, which constitute the climate system setting.
Flexibility system:
The house is equipped with a guiding program which consists on the living room and kitchen with the interactive terrace, as a common social program, in addition to the dressing room, the bathroom and the master bedroom, as the private program area. This core will be functionally isolated from the rest of the housing program, having in common only the gateway and the entrance hall.
The rest of the program will consist on rooms and bathrooms that can have a family use, romos for the children, personal offices, workplace, business... etc. Also you can make use of it in a solidarity, economic, strategic or necessity way as alberge in case of illness or old age.
