Description of project by Fundación Arquitectura Contemporánea
Emerged in 2016 as a strategy to encourage reflection on the decisive influence that architecture has on our way of life -especially approaching rural environments and making use of technological means that we already use daily -, it constitutes an example of empowering citizen, giving voice, and vote to sectors of the population that are not usually aware of their ability to collectively influence the construction of the city.
Pedro García del Barrio, the patron of the Foundation, especially highlights the ability to adopt urban solutions from the community: “Who thinks the city? The community thinks about it, the community plans it. It is an exercise in collective intelligence”, he affirmed in the virtual event for the communication of results held this Wednesday.
"Entreplanos is not a common audiovisual contest, but an invitation to citizen participation and reflection on our immediate surroundings, making use of the tools we have at our disposal."
Carlos Anaya -coordinator of the contest.
That is why it is established as an essential requirement that the proposals have a duration of fewer than 2 minutes and have been recorded with a mobile phone.
In this sense, Entreplanos is consolidated as an effective strategy of approaching sectors of the population without specific training that is usually more difficult to reach, especially the youngest (more than 50% of viewers are under 34 years old) and the elderly ( almost 10% of views have been produced by people over 65). And it is through a citizen science action since the participants are actively involved.
The members of the jury -independent and made up of professionals from architecture and urban planning, contemporary art, and social sciences, intending to promote this comprehensive and integrative view of the city- have expressed themselves along the same lines:
“We all like stories and that is why we increasingly consume short stories. Thanks to the mobile we can see stories anywhere and at any time. For this reason, this contest, from the beginning, seems a current and necessary initiative ”.
Luis Valdelomar, architect and winner of the first Entreplanos contest.
"Anyone with a certain concern, even if they do not have a technical background, is capable of going out and creatively showing their closest environment."
Alfonso Muñoz, manager of the Rafael Botí Provincial Contemporary Art Foundation.
"It is especially striking that when it is proposed to anyone who reflects on the city, they often do not look at buildings, streets, or monuments, but at people."
José Javier Romero, director of Enclave Social - a third sector entity dedicated to promoting social initiatives.
In this commitment to bring architecture and the city closer to the citizens, shared with the Culture Delegation of the Córdoba City Council that supports the initiative, a fact that reaffirms the initial approach is that more than 80% of the visits have been made from a mobile device.
“This artificial ecosystem that we call the city, is the place we inhabit, the place where the lives of all people develop, they interrelate, and therefore they needed to give us the different looks of their perception of the city, especially after the experiences lived in this 2020 ”.
Francisco Gómez, patron of the Foundation.
