The new system f+p preplant is used for reducing the energetic consumption of the Place of Congresses in Vitoria-Gasteiz through several surrounding vegetal species.

Within the Inside Green Ring Project which those studios have developed previously for the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz we find the new vegetal façade for the Palace of Congresses of the city. Their proposal is to recreate the surrounding ecosystem into the city center. For achiving that they built a façade which has a total area of 1492 m2 with the f+p system and using more than 33.000 different native plants.

This system allow the Palace of Congresses to reduce the energetic consumption adding a thermal resistance of 2,644 m2.K/W. This represents a 270% increase on the existing façade insulation.

The vertical garden system “f + p preplant” is made with a non woven fabric that distributes water over the facade. Planted rockwool panels are placed on the non woven fabric, this process warranties no stress for the plant and cold resistance.

Urbanarbolismo and Unusualgreen.

Among the surrounding species used for creating the new façade there are several typical wetlands in the area as Scirpoides holoschoenus, Cyperus longus, Carex mairii, Juncus maritimus, Juncus acutus, Cirsium monspessulanun, Tetragonolobus maritimus, Lysimachia ephemerum...
