Marlborough Gallery features the Juan Navarro Baldeweg exhibition "Then and Today", a journey through the artist's work that brings together paintings, sculptures, pieces and drawings made from the 1960s to the present, which can be seen until July 28 in Madrid.

Juan Navarro Baldeweg is National Award for Plastic Arts and Architecture, and Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts, among other distinctions. Navarro Baldeweg has never stopped experimenting in the plastic arts and in the field of architecture.
"The works present in this exhibition are at the same time a result and a process. They show in the final state of their execution the rules of the game involved in their genesis, in them it is transparent how they were made. This transparency means making visible in the works presented a characteristic state of the interactive process of a few variables that I consider essential in the physical environment that surrounds us and in our own being.

The objective is to facilitate the perception of a dynamic background of variables whose presence is usually obscured or goes unnoticed in the confusion and visual heterogeneity of what exists. The painting is like a stage box in which the performance involved is shown to us stopped, in suspense."
Juan Navarro Baldeweg

"Then and today" is a compendium of his interests in the ways of making the work of art. The set of pieces presented concentrates the processes linked to natural forces and the body. Paying attention to the technique, the artist reflects on how each work shows the work invested in its realization.

The works by Navarro Baldeweg are present in museums and collections such as: Reina Sofía National Art Center Museum, Madrid; Center Pompidou, Paris; Architekturmuseum der Technischen Universität München, Munich; Patio Herreriano Museum, Valladolid; Avery Library Drawings & Archives Collection, New York; Galician Center for Contemporary Art, Santiago de Compostela; Helga de Alvear Collection, Madrid; Lafuente Archive, Heras (Cantabria).
