For the first time, the city of Barcelona will be the venue for the AA Visiting School, the international architecture workshop organised by the well-known London AA School of Architecture. This event, entitled “Bodega-Enological Metabolism”, focuses on the “metabolism” of wine production and dissects the techniques and technologies involved in its processes. The participants will have the chance to explore the relationship between wine and architecture.
Alongside the course, the AA Visiting School Barcelona is organising “Archi / tech / e / nologies” from 17th to 26th July, a cycle of open lectures given to publicise architecture which, like wine-making, can be understood based on processes and technique.
On Friday, 26th July at 7.30pm, the Roca Barcelona Gallery will be the venue for the last lecture, given by Sir Peter Cook. Sir Cook is an outstanding international architect and one of the founders of the avant-garde Archigram movement. This was one of the most influential groups in contemporary architecture, bringing about a revolution with its innovative projects directly related to technological advances in science.
For the rest of the lecture cycle, the COAC, FAD and MACBA will welcome architects of the calibre of Joan Roig, Enric Ruiz-Geli, Vicente Guallart and Jaime Coll.
Roca is supporting this initiative as part of its continual work and closer links with one of the best-known schools of architecture, the AA School of Architecture in London.
