The main prize is the loan of professional camera equipment. For runners up, a total of 10,000 Euros will be up for grabs, making this the most prestigious competition for sport photography in Germany. With the focus on the hunt for fresh talent, professional training in photography is not a prerequisite for applicants.
'The Peter-Christian Schlüschen Foundation wants to discover, promote and support the progression of excellent young talents with this sport photography competition,' explains Jan Schlüschen, the foundation's president. 'With its focus on young art, the BERLINER LISTE is the ideal place to award the sponsorship prize for up-and-coming photography.'
The 20 best photos will be exhibited at Berlin's biggest art fair, the BERLINER LISTE, from September 13th to 16th and the awards ceremony will take place during the fair. The BERLINER LISTE, now in its ninth year, takes place at the MUMA (formerly TRAFO) in Berlin's Mitte district. The industrial atmosphere is the ideal exhibition space for modern art. The spectrum of work on display ranges from contemporary painting, graphics and sculpture to video art and photography. Last year the fair attracted around 10,000 art collectors, gallery owners and private buyers from all over the world. The exhibition and accompanying events created a storm in the press and recognized Berlin as an exciting and lucrative art market.
