Once again, we are very glad to invite you all to the second launch in Barcelona of the book 'Invenciones: Nueva York vs. Rem Koolhaas, Bernard Tschumi, Piranesi' by José Juan Barba. The author will be accompanied by Enric Massip-Bosch, architect founder of EMBA and Professor at UPC BarcelonaTECH and Iñaki Alday, architect and co-founder of Aldayjover arquitectura y paisaje and Chair of the University of Virginia Architecture Departament. The event will be directed by Lluís Comerón, architect and Dean of COAC.
This presentation is also in a way a token of gratitude to the city of Barcelona for the important role it played in the thesis research process.
'Inventions' was the title of an exhibition held in Hannover in 1981 which gathered together graphic work by different architects around the work of G.B. Piranesi. The drawings displayed here were not intended to reflect the pre-construction phase but to establish a metalinguistic discourse.
In this event, we will go deeply into José Juan Barba's essay to explain how it seeks to identify, just like the 1981 exhibition did, a non-textual narrative able to suggest new points of view for architecture in a moment of crisis.
Dates.- The launch will take place on Wednesday 1st July at 7:00pm.
Venue.- at COAC, Architecture Association of Catalonia (Plaça Nova 5, Barcelona).
The first launch of the book took place on Wednesday, May 6 at CSIC Scientific Bookshop in Madrid and was presented by historian Francisco Javier Gómez Espelosín, architect Pilar Chías and architect Luis Fernández-Galiano, who introduces the book with a preface entitled "Black Brains".
