The Valencian studio HORMA has recently completed its project for the new building of the BeGreen Salad Company restaurant, in the city of Valencia, located in the Plaza del Mar, between the historic centre and the great green belt that, today, crosses the city.

The proposal is an intervention on a pre-existing building, which invites us to an atmosphere of warm tones and terracotta that fluidly dialogue with the greens of the vegetation that occasionally appear on the route.

The intervention by HORMA study is based on two main aspects that are distributed throughout the thirty linear meters of the proposal. On the one hand, a concrete stall covered in ceramic tiles that runs along the floor of the building creating a topography that ends up virtually defining the different uses of the space.

On the other hand, the constructive resources used; noble materials and handcrafted finishes, which try, through concepts such as natural or honesty, to go in line with the philosophy that BeGreen preaches.

Description of project by HORMA

Healthy, sustainable, sincere and natural are concepts that define Begreen and that should be the starting point.

Intervening the minimum to obtain the maximum would be our objective and main challenge, not only for an economic criteria, but also for the awareness of optimization of resources.

The project proposes as a strategy to intervene in the space by generating a common plinth that runs through the entire surface of the premises up to a height of 90cm. In this constant thickness, two primitive concepts such as topography and geometry will define its shape and way of inhabiting it. The carved plinth, accentuated by manual and local ceramics, provides the space with the desired continuity, stability and personality, allowing itself to be complemented by the movement and improvisation of color of the users who occupy it.

A unique atmosphere waiting for each user to feel part of it and free to experience it in their own way. Feel free and enjoy Begreen.

The protagonist of the project is the terracotta color, it covers the floor and the plinth, materialized in microcement. The whole route is doted with details in other colors, for example the orange of the furniture or even the green of the lamps and the vegetation. That vegetation has an essencial paper in this project, and it appears in both the beginnig and the end of the route, located in brick pots.

The entired program takes place on the ground floor. It is a single 30m long space, crosed by a plinth wich creates differents levels, where the activity takes place. The details in ceramic pieces, accompanied by the furniture, generate a feeling of warmth and rhythm.

Therefore, ceramic and microcement are the main elements that give shape and life to this interior, giving it a special character.

HORMA is an architectural studio founded and directed by Nacho Juan and Clara Cantó. Both, together with Jose Iborra, coordinate the work of the rest of the team and the development of each of the projects.

Their job is to understand architecture as a personal experience that allows each client to turn their project into a unique reality according to their needs. The architecture, learned and developed from the passion and the knowledge, allows us to read each project as a new opportunity to continue growing.

Recently recognized in the selection of emerging architecture of the Valencian Community and in the mention received by the Official College of Architects of the Valencian Community, from the studio we continue working every day to get the best project for each of our clients. Architecture and interior design, merged into a single line of work, allow us to develop our projects from the first line of their idea to the last detail.
