The Valencian studio WOHA Arquitectura has developed a reform and rehabilitation project in a 150-year-old house located in La Huerta de Alicante, a historical region of the Valencian Community that is currently divided between the current regions of Campo de Alicante and Bajo Vinalopó.

This characteristic of the site is characterized by occurring on a plot with strong linearity where there is an alfalfa plantation. This allows the housing project to close facing the road and open towards the garden and plantation.
To achieve the generation of permeability from the inside of the house to the outside, WOHA Arquitectura's design for the home is given in three longitudinal strips in which the program is distributed.

Thanks to this composition, it is achieved that the living area with programs of a less private nature, are visually connect with each other, while the planting of the plot frames and offers cozy and relaxing views.

Description of project by WOHA Arquitectura

The project deals with the rehabilitation of a 150-year-old house located on a plot with strong linearity where there is an alfalfa plantation. This is located in the garden of Alicante.

The project intends to close the house to the road and open it towards the planting of its plot, generating a permeability from the inside of the house to the outside. The house is divided into three longitudinal strips:

- The existing one, which will house the bedroom and kitchen uses.

- The central strip, in charge of connecting the house with the 160-meter-deep garden, for this, the existing load-bearing walls are broken, beams are placed and the upper part is closed with glass.

- The most private part that is protected from outside views by a sidewall.

It is achieved that the living area with uses of the dining room, barbecue, and porch, is visually connected with the backdrop that is the plantation of the plot itself.
