Have you ever wanted to live in a luxurious penthouse in Madrid downtown? This dream but can come true, if only for one day. The attic of the 32nd floor of Torre de Madrid can be visited this weekend on the occasion of Madrid Open House architecture festival. This landmark building has experienced a major interior remodeling since its acquisition by the company Metrovacesa in the past years. The apartments of the tower offer superb properties of exclusivity, views and services in the heart of Madrid.

Torre de Madrid skyscraper opens its doors to the public on the occasion of Open House Madrid event, which will take place this weekend (26-27 September). Visitors can enjoy the experience of the attic of the residential tower, a duplex of 350 sqm, located on the 32nd floor, 140 meters high. The exclusive apartment is currently for sale for a price of 3.600.000€.

This luxury home enjoys unbeatable views of the capital, thanks to the unique location of the building in the central square Plaza de España, between Gran Via and Princesa streets. Its large terrace of 85sqm. opens onto the most emblematic areas of the city such as the Royal Palace, Edificio España or Gran Vía Street, to the skyscrapers of Chamartín, in the outskirts of the city. The Northern mountain range of the zone results to be the perfect backdrop for this unique panorama.

This location gives the tower the opportunity to take advantage of its unique combination of a central location with its height. Torre de Madrid is the only residential building in downtown Madrid that reaches elevations of almost 150m. Thanks to its special properties, the building has become since its construction an emblem of the city and has been featured in numerous Spanish and European films, especially in the 1960s and has been chosen as temporary residence by many personalities from the world of film and the arts.

Metrovacesa company has been completely remodeling the building for some years now, organizing its different functions depending on the height of every floor. The ground floor is filled with commercial spaces, above which floors 1-10 are reserved as a hotel. Up from this level the floors are divided in two-or-three-bedroom apartments. On top, the attic which can be visited this weekend, completes the building.

The new restyled apartments projected by Bod Arquitectura e Ingeniería, are designed as continuous, airy, open spaces, following the line of New York lofts. The project precisely seeks an adaptation of the comfort and lifestyle provided by the Manhattan apartments set in the context of Madrid. The residential complex is designed to serve a full-service to the residents. Inside the building the user can enjoy the services of concierge, surveillance, maintenance, gym, etc. In addition, two houses also have private pool.

The skyscraper was designed by the brothers Julián and José María Otamendi in 1954 for the Compañía Inmobiliaria Metropolitana Company. The ambitious design made Torre de Madrid the tallest concrete building in the world during his early life. Likewise, also it maintained the first place in Europe's tallest building for more than ten years until 1967. It also held the record for the tallest building in Spain until the end of the telecommunications tower Torrespaña in 1982.
