The house is designed so that the concrete and the different volumes create a play of light and darkness. On the first floor we find a diversity of edges at different heights, together with the enclosure that allows natural light to enter. The exterior presents two spaces, the one oriented to enjoy the sun, and the shaded area, generated by its concrete blocks.

Description of project by Carles Faus Architecture
Rubio House is located in a residential area, with a completely flat terrain, and in direct contact with the orchard. It is the last house that defines the boundary between the orchard and the city.
The project is conceived through the juxtaposition of two basic elements, a rectangle and a square, and through a simple movement we generate the void inside and emphasize the pieces on the outside.
The square base at the bottom with the intersection of the rectangle at the top generates a void inside, which is crossed by the zenithal light right at the junction of the two voids.

The relationship with the street is practically annulled on the ground floor, with a small tear in one of the laterals on this façade, to subtract the entire length of the enclosure on the opposite façade, generating in its place an opening of 14 metres of light.
The light and the darkness of the materiality are the great protagonists of this collision of spaces and voids; without the play of those two elements, the material would not be enhanced; thanks to it, the concrete generates a space of changing sensations throughout the day.
Upon entering the house we are greeted by a set of edges at different heights generated by the intersection of the different volumes, the space is articulated with a living area, dining room, reading area, kitchen and laundry, while serving a bedroom and two bathrooms located on the same floor.

On the first floor there are two bedrooms with a circulation to the space below. Both bedrooms have a dressing room and bathroom inside, with the particularity that the master bedroom has been configured with a split circulation to be able to combine different living and working habits.
The exterior of the plot is connected to the interior through the large opening of the living room, an exterior facing south to enjoy the maximum sunlight, the swimming pool and thanks to the overhang generated by the mesh of the two volumes we generate a shaded area to take shelter in the summer months.
