Chidy Wayne (Born in 1981, Spain) is a Spanish-Guinean multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. Works in various media including painting, sculpture, illustration and music.
Wayne has established himself as a distinctive artist with a personal, minimalist, and figurative painting style. His creations, characterised by a primitive and minimalist nature, draw inspiration from both ancestral traditions and the avant-garde art scene. Through quick and bold strokes, he tackles universal themes, exploring self-awareness and internal conflict in his two main series, EGO and PUGNA, which reflect his combative spirit.
Chidy Wayne’s pieces are influenced by the artistic avant-garde as well as by ancestral and cultural elements, giving his drawings a certain primitive character, although urban art and contemporary forms are also present in his style.
Wayne creates a personal code of signs and motifs of great symbolic significance and his drawings, the result of long philosophical reflection, are created using quick, bold strokes presenting such universal and timeless themes as existence, identity and internal conflict.
