Vancells Arquitectura

XVA. Xavier Vancells Arquitectura is a contemporary architecture studio based in Barcelona since 2006. He writes architecture and urban planning projects for public entities, companies, organizations and people.

Their works include the New Social Headquarters of the ATHC in 2010, the Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council in 2009 and the Huarte Art Center in Navarra in 2007. For their work, they have obtained different awards and have been included in international exhibitions developed at the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine de Paris in 2009, at the ArchitekturZentrum in Vienna in 2009 and at the Deutsches ArchitekturMuseum in Frankfurt in 2007.

Xavier Vancells is an architect at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya since 1997. He subsequently completed a postgraduate course "The New Instruments of Architecture" at UPC. In 2000, together with Franc Fernández and Carles Puig, he founded the Estudio FFPV Arquitectura. It was in 2006 when he founded his own firm XVA, Xavier Vancells Arquitectura.

Since 2000 he has been a professor in the Department of Architecture Projects at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, at the Vallès School of Architecture, created Post-Industrial Landscapes in 2008. Vancells is a member of the ARCHT Research Group at UPC- Barcelona Tech and has been Professor Architecture Assistant at the BIArch Institute of Architecture 2012.

His work has been recognized with several awards and nominations including nomination in The FAD Architecture Awards in 2010, finalist in the 5th Vallès Architecture Biennial in 2009, finalist in The FAD Architecture Awards in 2007 among others.
