SERRAT
Sergi Serrat Guillent. Architect from the ETSAV [Vallés School of Architecture] since 2002. He worked in different studios between 1997 and 2004 before starting GRND82 in 2004.
GRND82 is an open platform created in 2004 by young professionals from the world of architecture and interior design trained in leading studios in the city of Barcelona.
They work on projects of different scales, public or private, with the same objective: to offer contemporary proposals, anchored to their social, economic and cultural context through constant research and dialogue with their clients, teams of collaborators, contractors and users.
They are attracted by the idea of working under tight budgets and conditions as it represents an opportunity to investigate new potentials in programs, materials and construction systems so that they are capable of adapting to new social, economic and environmental realities. These investigations are continuously reinforced by the studio's participation in various architectural competitions and by teaching tasks at different universities of architecture and design: ETSAV, Sint Lucas, ELISAVA, University of Illinois at Chicago, among others.
The team's work has been recognized through various awards and exhibitions, both national and international, including mentions for emerging AR+D architects awarded by the RIBA and nominations for the Mies Arch 2011 and FAD 2010 awards. His projects have been published in different specialized media such as METALOCUS, DOMUS, DETAIL, Architectural Review, ON Diseño, Area...
He currently develops his task as a professor of practice at Tulane School of Architecture.
