Pablo Pro Álvarez (Madrid, 1968) is a director of photography, photographer and camera operator. He graduated in Cinematography from U.C.L.A, Los Angeles, in 1993.
For eight years he worked in film productions alternating residence between Los Angeles and New York. He specializes in nature and social content documentaries, participating in projects for National Geographic, BBC, Canal Plus France and Discovery Channel.
On his return to Spain, he worked as a camera operator for the productions «El lápiz del carpintero» by Antón Reixa, «Canicula» by Álvaro Capello, «Lazos de sangre» by Pedro Costa and «Al otro lado de la noche» by Patxi Barco and in advertising as director of photography for Coca-Cola, Acuafina, Nike and Telefónica, among others. She received awards for best photography for the short films «La china» by Diego Postigo 2007, «En el hoyo» by David Martín 2008 and «El palacio de la luna» by Ione Hernández 2009.
On the international scene, she continues her film and documentary work with various production companies such as Tessa Livingstone (Executive Producer, BBC, «Child of our Time») Christy Hanna («Earth Story») and Claude Gaignara (On the Road). Between 2003 and 2007 she taught photography classes at the San Antonio de Baños Film School in Cuba. As a result of her enriching teaching experience, she decided to return to her roots by taking up the still image format to tell, in the first person, her experiences and concerns.
