Mimarlar and Han Tümertekin

Han Tümertekin founded Mimarlar and Han Tümertekin Project Consultancy Services Ltd. in Istanbul in 1986. He has carried out projects in Turkey, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, and France. He completed his architectural education at Istanbul Technical University and worked in historical preservation at Istanbul University.

In addition to his professional practice, Tümertekin has contributed to architectural education since 1992 and is one of the founders and executives of the Master’s program in Architecture at Istanbul Bilgi University. He has been a visiting professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.

He has served on numerous national and international juries and participates in international architectural activities through lectures and workshops. His projects have been published in journals such as METALOCUS, Domus, Abitare, Arquitectura Viva, and d'Architecture, as well as in books like World Atlas of Contemporary Architecture and Atlas of 21st Century World Architecture. Additionally, Harvard University Press has published a monograph featuring a selection of his projects.

Tümertekin has received multiple awards, including the National Architecture Award of Turkey in 1998 and 2000. His SM House was exhibited at the Mies van der Rohe Awards, and in 2004, he won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture with the B2 House. He was also a jury member for the Aga Khan Awards for Architecture in 2007 and has been a member of its Board of Directors since 2008.
