MDU architetti
MDU architetti - Misuratori Differenziale Urbano (urban differential measurers) - is an architecture practice founded in 2001 in Prato (Italy) by Valerio Barberis (1971), Alessandro Corradini (1964) and Marcello Marchesini (1970), later joined by Cristiano Cosi (1974).
The studio’s range of activities goes from urban planning to interior design, and often reaches pure intellectual meditation through theoretical projects developed in the occasion of architecture exhibitions and workshops, where the practice is invited.
The studio was invited in a number of different architecture exhibitions in Florence, Lecce, Lisbon, London, Milan, Naples, Oderzo (Venice), Parma, Pontedera (Pisa), Rome, Shanghai, Trevi and Venice; and it has been presented on websites, in magazines and publications on architecture both nationally and internationally.
Among the built projects: Poolhouse Fioravanti in Prato, RRS & Feng Lin Showroom in Shanghai, EsseBi Showroom in Agliana (Pistoia), the art gallery dedicated to the work of the sculptor Giuliano Vangi in Florence, the transformation of a series of old industrial building in apartments and lofts in Prato, the Municipal Library of Greve in Chianti (Florence) and the Municipal Thedatre of Montalto di Castro (Rome).
The Teatre of Montalto di Castro recently won the London “International Property Awards 2010” and the transformation of an old industrial building in a series of loft was selected by the italian Magazine “Progetti & Concorsi” among the best 20 italian new buildings of 2009.
Valerio Barberis (Ph.D. Architectural Design, Florence, Italy) and Marcello Marchesini (Ph.D. Architectural Design, Reggio Calabria, Italy) either are holding Architectural Design courses at the Architecture Faculty of Florence and Parma Universities. Alessandro Corradini held a Scholarship on Architecture at the Stuttgart Schloss Solitude Academy, Germany (1995-97).
