Manuel Tojal Architects Studio

Manuel Tojal Architects Studio is a young architecture studio founded in 2014, which believes that architecture is a social art, where the incessant search for alchemy transforms the profession into a way of life.

Manuel Tojal (Lisbon,1983) graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon (F.A.U.L) in 2007.After finishing university, he attended for one year at the Tokyo Faculty of Architecture. During the internship, he collaborated with SANAA studio (Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa Architects and Asssociates), where he was responsible for the international competition for the Serralves Foundation Multifunctional Building (First Prize - 2008).

Before founding the Manuel Tojal Architects Studio, he collaborated with several studios, including Cadaval & Solà-Morales studio, in Barcelona, and RMAA studio, in São Paulo.

Manuel Tojal is also co-author of Casa na Travessa do Patrocínio, in Lisbon, built in 2012. which won the Architizer Building of the Year award and was finalist in the Archdaily Building of the Year in the same year.

In 2017 the Casa Chanca project was selected by the PNAM award (National Prize for Wooden Architecture).
