Luque Pulgar
Emilio Luque Pulgar is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology II (Social Structure) in the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia in Spain. He holds a degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Kent and is a University Specialist in the Sociology of Consumption.
Since 2000 he has taught Human Ecology (Sociology) and Environment and Society (Environmental Sciences) at UNED, and between 2007 and 2014 he was Director of Research at the University Institute of Distance Education.
He has carried out research stays at the Universities of Harvard, Michigan (Ann Arbor) and the Centre for the Sociology of Innovation at the École de Mines in Paris. His publications and research focus on the relationship between architecture, profession and sustainability, knowledge economy, ecological citizenship, sociology of food, and urban environmental conflicts. He has participated in 10 national and European R&D projects. The main lines of his current work are the professional culture of Spanish architects and its consequences for the sustainability of the built environment; informal recyclers in Latin America; agro-ecological food alternatives.
He has taught postgraduate courses in several related specialization programs, such as the Master in Advanced Techniques for Architectural Projects at the UEM, where he is currently part of the faculty of the Master in Sustainability and Energy Rehabilitation.
