Urban Picnic 2013 is a workshop inside Interactions, a cycle of workshops organized by the Enric Miralles Foundation in cooperation with other international research programs, in this occasion with Architectural Association Interprofessional Studio (AAIS), at Matadero Madrid
The encounter and interaction between the two programs is based on two principal concepts: linking design and construction into the working process and experimenting with natural materials and traditional techniques, revealing their potential for new uses.
The aim is to build the future installation «urban picnic» where visitors will enjoy creative dishes offered by local chefs selected by AAIS. Also, the installation will work as temporary market for local and organic products. Finally, this space will host music, dance and theater performances organized, and partly executed and built by AAIS’s students and Urban Picnic’s students.
The result will be an intense activity during two weeks of cooperation and creative interaction, promoting the dynamic and performative use of space, which will lead and complement the three days of continuous event of food and performance.

Date: May 27th – June 9th, 2013
Duration.- 96 hours. From 10am to 6pm.
Price.- 390 euros, per person. Early bird deadline, 10th April 2013, the price is 340 euros. The price includes: participation to the workshop, lectures and conferences, construction materials for the URBAN PICNIC, tools, personal insurance.
