Call for Pavilion Design
The Directorate General of Urban Agenda and Architecture of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, in collaboration with the Arquia Foundation, is calling for entries for this ideas competition aimed at young architects up to the age of 45.
The objective is the creation of a temporary pavilion that will make the Plaza del Humilladero (Granada) stand out and that can in turn provide a home for the city's cultural and leisure activities.
Following the jury's decision, the authors of the winning proposal will receive a prize of €10,000 and will be able to carry out the project with an estimated base budget of €90,000 for the construction of the pavilion, which can be increased with sponsorship contributions.
Access the terms and conditions of the call and send us your project until 14 July by filling in the form on the website.
Location and jury
The Plaza del Humilladero (Granada) is a large triangle which serves as an off-centre joint between the boulevard of Paseo del Salón and the Carrera del Genil or Carrera de la Virgen. But, above all, it is the place where visitors to the city used to come out after crossing the Zirí bridge over the Genil river.
It is a place of confluence and an obligatory stop for those coming from or going to the south of the city. A place of concentration of activities and a space experienced by pedestrians, forming part of the continuous Paseo del Salón.
Jury for the competition.
The competition will have a specialised jury that will select the winning project, two finalists with a financial prize and three mentions. It will be made up of the following people:
Iñaqui Carnicero, Director General of Agenda Urbana, Sol Candela Alcover, Director of Fundación Arquia, Lesley Lokko, curator of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023, Inês Lobo, Architect and lecturer at Universidad Autónoma de Lisboa and ISCTE, Carmen Moreno, Architect and lecturer at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Granada, José Vallejo, Cultural Coordinator of Granada City Council and Javier Peña Ibáñez, Artistic Director of the TAC! Festival.
