This year 2017 Serrano street opens Christmas lights. Designed by the architecture studio of Sergio Sebastián Franco, who also designed the lighting of Preciados Street and Chueca Square in Madrid.
Sergio Sebastián in this case has based the design on the tartan pattern of wool scarves to illuminate this shopping street in Madrid, which is one of the most important. Each design is different and combines light, color and density to generate infinite effects and visualization possibilities.

Description of project by Sergio Sebastián

Serrano Street in Madrid will be open Christmas lights this year with an original proposal that pays tribute to the textile trade. 'Bufandas, 'the work of architect Sergio Sebastián, is spinning different layers of luminous fabric along one and a half kilometer to recreate the classic tartan pattern of the world of tailoring that marks the character of this main street.

As usual in the designs of this architect, which also illuminates the central street of Preciados, Fuencarral or Plaza de Chueca there is a marked interest in redefining the urban space and turning it into a social event.

For this, the proposal starts with the geometry of the colors, playing with the density, the superposition, the full and the empty, generating effects and infinite possibilities of visualization.

Based on  classic tartan pattern of wool wooven, scarves explores the effects of visual superposition of colors, lines, and surfaces, compounding a new atmosphere for this main commercial street
