The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and A. Urbana has published the architecture competition for the Renovation of the Real Academia de España en Roma, to award the contract for the drafting of the project and subsequent construction management to the winner.

The trip to Italy was frequent among European artists from the 15th century until well into the 19th century. Dürer and Brueghel, Alonso de Berruguete or Velázquez complemented their training in Italian lands. We would have to wait until 1873 for the favorable conditions for the founding of the institution to arise.

The Real Academia de España en Roma / Spanish Academy in Rome sits on the convent complex of San Pietro in Montorio, located in the place where tradition placed the martyrdom of the Apostle Saint Peter. One of the most significant pieces is the Bramante Temple.
Project competition with the intervention of a jury for the award of the project and construction management for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome.

Object of the contest and place
The purpose of the Project Contest, with the intervention of the Jury, is to select the best proposal that, due to its suitability, architectural quality and technical, economic and constructive feasibility, is valued by the members of the Jury as the best and most suitable for, based on In it, write the Preliminary Studies, the Basic Project, Execution Project, Construction Management and final documentation of the work for the Rehabilitation of the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, located in the monumental complex of San Pietro in Montorio, Rome.

Deadlines
     Presentation of proposals: until February 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
     Project drafting period: Seven and a half months (7.5).

Brief description of the works
The Spanish Academy in Rome, created in 1873, has been located since 1881 in the monumental complex of San Pietro in Montorio. It occupies an architectural complex that is the product of numerous additions and interventions, essentially from 1480 to the 1940s. It seeks to undertake the following tasks:

     Rehabilitate and functionally readjust those original spaces of the Academy that need an intervention.
     Expand the headquarters of the Academy using both the living spaces of the Franciscan friars, as well as the possibility of having new buildings for this purpose.
     Consolidate, restore and enhance a monumental complex that constitutes a unique historical and cultural heritage, owned by Spain.
 
Awards
     First prize (winner): € 30,000 + VAT (included in the fees of the contracted team)
     Second prize: € 15,000 + VAT
     Third prize: € 10,000 + VAT
     First runner-up: € 7,500 + VAT
     Second prize: € 7,500 + VAT
 
PEM and winner's fees
Contract to the winner (Preliminary Studies + Drafting + Project Management + Work Documentation) -including first prize of the competition € 30,000 -: € 537,709.77 + VAT.
