The course is organized in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Catalunya, it lasts 10 weeks and follow the ideas, methods and techniques of Enric Miralles, with the aim to train students in a specialized, contemporary and sustainable urbanism.
How should new cities be? The global economic crisis has so far awarded an unusual prominence in some emerging countries that they are in need of change the physiognomy of their cities, if not just create it. On the other hand, cities like Paris, Barcelona or Naples constantly renew their great historical centers. How should these new cities be? Does it make sense to build a new New York in China? And what new needs reveal the renovation of historic cities?
Based on the way of thinking and working of Enric Miralles and learning his methodology and his technique, and by joining the way of doing of EMBT Miralles Tagliabue the students will specialize on contemporary sustainable integrated Urbanism. The course aims to give students the necessary skills to develop an urban project from start to finish, participants will create their own proposals for the '2017 Grand Paris Clichy-Montferneil Suburbs of Paris' project by integrating all necessary theoretical and practical aspects on urbanism and creative design development.
The course leaders included Benedetta Tagliabue, director of the EMBT Enric Miralles Benedetta Tagliabue arquitectos asociados, and Josep Maria Rovira, professor at Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB). And will attend as visiting professors, among others, Richard Rogers and Jean Nouvel.
