PHotoESPAÑA, international festival of photography and visual arts, reaches its twentieth edition. A celebration that will be extended to 2018, when the festival will turn 20.
PHotoESPAÑA 2017 presents from May 31 to August 27 100 exhibitions with works by 514 artists and a program of 20 professional activities and for audiences that will take place in 62 venues.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the festival, artists of the size of Elliott Erwitt, Cristina García Rodero, Gabriele Basilico, Chema Madoz, Adriana Lestido, Peter Fraser or Minor White in monographic and collective exhibitions will participate in the festival. Cien años de fotografía Leica y Un cierto panorama, recent photography of author in Spain, are among the outstanding proposals of this edition.

The festival will have a presence throughout Spain with different installations in Madrid, Alcalá de Henares, Alcobendas, Lanzarote, Murcia, Segovia, Zaragoza and the Community of Castilla - La Mancha, will be part of the Festival venues.

The MACBA in Barcelona, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Es Baluard in Palma de Mallorca, IVAM in Valencia and Fotonoviembre in Tenerife will be the headquarters of the Festival in the celebration of the 20th anniversary.

As if all this were not enough, among the activities planned in Madrid include:

36 Madrid galleries will participate in the Festival Off, with projects by Roger Ballen, Alberto García-Alix, Pilar Pequeño, Marina Núñez, Catalá-Roca, Marta Soul, Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb, Cristina Macaya and Cristobal Hara, among others.

PHotoESPAÑA will take the streets of Madrid with programs for all audiences that include workshops for children and young people, competitions, cinema cycles, round tables, the celebration of the fourth centenary of the Plaza Mayor and nocturnal projections in the Botanical Garden, among others.

The international area has also been covered: Transatlantic, which is 10 years old, organizes for the second consecutive year, viewing in Africa, in Morocco and arriving for the first time in Asia, with a program of activities in the Philippines. TransEurope will host a program of screenings and workshops financed by the program Europe Creative in collaboration with the Finish Museum of Photography and the EuroMare of Greece. 

​PHotoESPAÑA also extends its network of collaborators to Asia, America and Australia with exhibitions in Kyoto, Beijing, Chicago, Buenos Aires and Melbourne, in addition to the European headquarters in Berlin, Bratislava, Chalon Sur Saone, Dublin, Lausanne, Mérignac and Warsaw.

La Fábrica publishes the Guía de PHotoESPAÑA 2017 along with 5 books and catalogs, and organizes PHotoBookWeek with a dozen activities and editorial presentations that you can not miss.
