The team formed by the Mexican studios Isaac Broid and Productora built the Teopanzolco State Cultural Auditorium next to the archaeological site from which it takes its name, located in the city of Cuernavaca (Méscio).
The project was designed to adapt to the slope of the site and with the intention of establishing a dialogue with the two existing pyramids of the Tlahuica civilization, for which purpose slopes were designed following the platform-talud-tablero sequence, where one of the the two auditoriums of the set, outdoors. Under it is the second auditorium, which is accessed by a wide front that generates a meeting place or space for the realization of events.
The construction is organized through two elements: a triangular floor that contains the public programs of the building (lobbies, services, lockers, wardrobes and auditorium); and a platform that surrounds it where the service and operation areas are (dressing rooms, warehouses, assembly areas, etc.), including a black box for multiple uses. The large basement contains a series of courtyards, one of them sinks in front of the secondary access of the auditorium and creates a small outdoor theater. This platform is capable of generating diverse exterior spaces and resolving secondary accesses to the interior of the auditorium or to the platform itself, as well as incorporating the existing large trees.
