Spanish football team and Champions League winners, Real Madrid has a new kit made from recycled plastic, designed by Adidas and environmental organisation Parley for the Oceans.

Adidas in a collaboration with Parley for the Oceans, recycled plastic to produce the Real Madrid Third Jersey for the 2018-19 season. Spanish club are set to utilize the entirety of their global marketing reach and exceptional performances on the soccer pitch as a platform to increase awareness for the current state of our oceans using kits made out of recycled plastic from Parley.

During its trip in US on August, Adidas revealed the new Real Madrid third kit. The kit is a coral colour that mimics a shade found in healthy coral reefs as a homage to the vital role they play in the ecosystem. It will be used for the 2018/19 La Liga football season which kicks of today,  was created as part of an ongoing collaboration between Adidas and Parley for the Oceans to highlight the problem of plastic pollution in the seas of the world.
 
"The jersey's unique colouring represents various shades of coral; a homage to the beauty of the oceans that we need to protect," said Adidas.

Adidas uses a technology that converts ‘up-cycled marine plastic debris into technical yarn fibres‘  capable of transforming plastic waste into high-performance footwear & apparel. The sportswear brand has committed to using recycled plastic in all its products by 2024.
 
Cyrill Gutsch, Parley`s founder has called for a ‘material revolution.’ "The partnership and collaboration with real madrid is an attempt to further facilitate the global the discussion regarding the use of plastic as ‘a toxic substance….[that] creates too much damage to our oceans & our own health."
