"Plantel Matilde is reached through a gap from a gate at street level in Sac Chich, Yucatán. At the end of the route, in the middle of a clearing in the low jungle vegetation, an imposing and at the same time silent building rises, integrated into the landscape, which refers to both classical and pre-Hispanic architecture. A work designed by the artist Javier Marín".

As part of its social responsibility actions, the Javier Marín Foundation created 2019 a community space for innovation and production that aims to generate additional income for the families that live in the rural town of San Antonio Sac Chich.
The members of the Sac Chich Clay Workshop have learned from Javier Marín and several experts the secrets of clay to create unique handmade pieces.
"I first photographed this project in 2019 but long felt the images didn't fully communicate the feeling, the atmosphere of the place. In March 2022 I gave it another try
For me, a visit to Matilde was one of calm and peace these ephemeral qualities are hard to communicate in stills and I knew moving image and environmental sound, in particular, bird song was needed.
If viewers are left with a sense of calm a sense of wonder I will see it as a success."
