The nomination is made throughout the year, until its declaration in the fall of each year. It can be done by anyone, it is completely free and open.
The Building of the Year declaration is organized by METALOCUS with the critical support of a panel comprised of leading figures from the world of architecture, who endorse, write and judge the building, generating unprecedented credibility and reach.
Each proposal and statement will be published on METALOCUS and shared through our huge social media and newsletter audiences, providing meaningful recognition to participants. The shortlisted and winning studios will be able to promote the fact of being declared METALOCUS Building of the Year.
What is different about our statement compared to the awards?
There are many architecture awards, but the METALOCUS statement is different.
First, the selection is made to a building, as a built manifest. It is a statement given by the result of its transforming capacity, innovative contributions in the technique, presentation as a reference model in architecture or the purposeful and avant-garde significance of its authors.
Secondly, our judging criteria have been carefully considered to ensure that the winning projects, in addition to being beautiful and innovative, benefit to users and the environment first. We believe that good architecture should not only not ignore but should enhance and influence issues such as social impact, sustainability or the landscape, and projects that assume these approaches as their own will be sought.
Thirdly, those who will give credence to the declaration will be leading figures of architecture in the company of non-architects, presenting opinions, reflections, texts or statements that motivate and justify the Declaration.
What are we looking for?

What are we looking for?
The evaluation criteria (paying tribute to a renowned architect of ancient times) that can guide the most, without prejudice to others, are:
Innovation: Incorporates a constructive, original design proposal in a new way. We do not want to say that the wheel has to be reinvented, but we will look for evidence of new ways of building, proactive approaches and new ideas.
Utility: It provides an improvement both for the lives of people and for the rest of the travellers on the planet. The project does not have to be a model that saves the world, but it must be empathic, respectful and considerate of users and the environment.
Beauty: She has incredible vision. We know that beauty is subjective, however aesthetic rigour, attention to detail, its relationship with the context and the proper use of materials will be sought.
