Julia is a project by Jaume Plensa (Barcelona, 1955), a large-format 12-meter-high piece of polyester resin and white marble powder. A work created expressly for this space, on the old pedestal of the Plaza de Colón, the place that formerly occupied the statue of the Genoese navigator and will be on display from December 20, 2018 to December 20, 2019.
"Julia is directed to the heart of our being. It is a poetic and virtual mirror in which each of us can be reflected in their most intimate questions, provoking a moment of personal and intimate reflection within the agitated dynamism generated by the public space".

A unique piece that temporarily changes the perception of the urban landscape of Madrid: "Julia", commented Jaume Plensa, is like a "blank tablecloth" where each person "paints their dreams". The work has been carried out under the patronage of the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation (FMCMP) for the city.
The María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation is a Spanish private non-profit foundation created in 2006 by Mª Cristina Masaveu Peterson with the aim of promoting, within the tradition of patronage and sponsorship of the Masaveu family, culture, training and scientific research nationally and internationally, with special attention in Asturias.
