In 1964, after more than 20 years living in Amsterdam with his family, Aldo van Eyck moves to Loenen aan de Vecht. Months before he had acquired a modest construction, of about 200 square meters spread over two floors and a loft, built in the seventeenth century and remodeled in the eighteenth.
His will be the third transformation of a building, currently protected as a monument, to turn it into a house in which, along with Hannie, lived until 1999. The house of Loenen has remained unpublished until now and unpublished, as the only project of Van Eyck occupied by himself as a permanent process for 35 years: a house that is no more than a house.

This thesis, by Alejandro Campos, takes the project as an object of study, trying to fix the house as a house before its disappearance and simultaneously open the house as a published book for successive readings and interpretations. This means that the work results in a sum of three efforts:

- The first to document, upload, catalog, photograph, record and file the physical material that makes up the house to make all the material available to anyone who wants to visit it virtually.
- The second one that interviews, talks, listens, understands its inhabitants and their concerns to pick up the house that still remains, understanding the importance of daily life in the reconstruction of the home.
- The third party that launches an interpretation of the material produced, which orders it according to an intentional gaze, which returns to project the house to discover the process of generation of the work, to make it readable to the public.

In short, the research proposes a long stay inside the house of Loenen aan de Vecht. Through it, from the collection of vernacular art, the library, the models, the avant-garde paintings, the photographs of the archive; the thesis looks at the imaginary museum of Aldo van Eyck.

After all, a man's story is a long detour around his house.
