Arquitectura-G architects' studio designed a modern and provocative residential building with two commercial premises on the ground floor, in the historic neighbourhood of Poblenou, one of the areas with the greatest urban transformation in the city of Barcelona.

It is a project that solves a singular geometric challenge with a corner location. This architectural work imposes itself with great formal sensitivity and a conceptual precision that adapts elegantly to its context.
Arquitectura-G building is defined as a building with a multi-family housing program, organized with five apartments, two premises and a sinuous spiral staircase that becomes the central nucleus of the work, both formally and compositionally.

Thanks to this formal decision, they manage to solve the complex irregularity of the plot, achieving two intern apartments on the second and third floors. The entire project revolves around its vertical and cylindrical axis, so it is solved in an ingenious way, with an entrance of light and natural ventilation on all its floors. It also includes a zenith entrance on the roof resolved with a skylight.

The project stands out with a contrast of tonality that reiterates the grouping of its service package. This one has an appearance of sandy and raw tones, in contrast to the interior rooms that stand out for being white.

Description of project by Arquitectura-G

Multi-family building with 5 dwellings and two commercial premises located in the Poblenou district of Barcelona.

The project resolves a corner plot of irregular geometry by placing in the centre a cylindrical vertical communications core that concentrates all the installations and services necessary for the dwellings. This gesture frees up the entire perimeter and allows for the fitting of two flats on the second and third floors. On the attic floor, which contains a single dwelling, the core uncovers its circular geometry and allows a dwelling to develop around it.

This core of vertical communication opens onto the street on the ground floor and on the first and second floors, and to the sky at its highest point. In this way, relations with the city are established at different points along the route and the natural lighting and ventilation of the communal elements are favoured.

Arquitectura-G is a studio of architecture founded in 2006 based in Barcelona, by Jonathan Arnabat, Jordi Ayala-Bril, Aitor Fuentes and Igor Urdampilleta, mainly dedicated to construction and teaching. They understand their work as a team, where individualities are dissolved in an addition of ways of doing. Material aspect is fundamental for the them, seing it as a field of research. Currently the office includes small projects and starts a new stage to approach larger projects.

In 2008 created ESCRITOS-G as learning tool and to improve the business, with the desire to create a critical discourse and trigger discussion about contemporary architecture. It is a serie of conversations about architecture held between members of ARCHITECTURE-G, the philosopher Ekhi Lopetegi and several young architects whose work has sparked interest in the profession, society and the media.

In 2011 launched INDOORS a section focused on reformulation and internal reorganization of urban housing adapted to living contemporary culture.
