The film was totally shooted at Casa Curutchet, the only building built by the brilliant Swiss French architect Le Corbusiere in America. It is set in Ciudad de la Plata, and was built between 1949 and 1955. It’s been recognized as a jewel of the worldwide architecture.
The choice of this design emblem as location for the shooting, gives not only a unique plastic quality, but it also integrates the house as a main role in the story.
Sinopsis
“The man next door. El hombre de al lado”, is the latest film from the couple of Argentinean directors: Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, who bring us a superb comedy where the architecture of Le Corbusiere prompts a conflict between neighbours.
The film tells us an endless fight in a neighborhood. A simple dividing wall can split two worlds, two ways of dressing, of eating, of living. On one side, Leonardo (Rafael Spregelburd), an elegant and well-known designer who lives in a house built by Le Corbusiere. On the other side, Víctor (Daniel Araoz), a second hand cars seller, gross , rustic and domineering . Victor decides to make a window in order to get more light, and there starts the problem: each one become aware of the existence of the other. The foreigner’s sight dents and questions an apparently normal life, besides it opens the door to fears, miseries and the more vile attitudes. “El hombre de al lado” was shooted in Ciudad de la Plata (Argentina) inside the only house designed by the brilliant Swiss French architect Le Corbusiere in America, which is considered a master piece from modern architecture.
