The jury emphasizes the social responsibility and sustainability pursued in its projects and also makes mention of its transversality as a professional, promoting the dialogue of architecture with other disciplines and demonstrating a great informative capacity both within and outside our borders.
The candidacy of the architect, at the proposal of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, the Arquia Foundation, the E.T.S.A. of Valencia and the Higher Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE), was chosen by the jury convened on November 30. Subsequently, it was made known to the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, who has personally given the news to the winner and, after that, will award the award by Ministerial Order.
The National Architecture Prize, endowed with 60,000 euros, is awarded on the proposal of a jury made up of outstanding professionals, under the honorary presidency of the head of the Department, Raquel Sánchez.
The jury has been made up on this occasion by Álvaro Siza Vieira, winner of the 2019 National Architecture Prize; Alberto Campo Baeza, winner of the 2020 National Architecture Prize; Luis Fernández-Galiano, at the proposal of the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts; Mar Loren Méndez, at the proposal of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities; Sol Madridejos Fernández, at the proposal of the Higher Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain; Eva Armas Gil, at the proposal of the Federation of Associations of Journalists of Spain; and María Langarita Sánchez, at the proposal of the General Directorate of Urban Agenda and Architecture. Likewise, the secretary of the jury was the general director of Urban Agenda and Architecture, Iñaqui Carnicero, and the secretary of the minutes was Marta Callejón Cristóbal, general deputy director of Architecture and Building.
