We bring you the interior design project for a bakery that opened recently in Alcala de Henares and in which the ceiling takes center stage with the installation of more than 12,000 'strawberry pirulos'.

IDEO Arquitectura has been responsible for the design of the third bakery in Madrid launched by the company Pan y Pasteles. One of the requirements of the client is that each store must be unique and different from the previous one, with only one condition: there must be magenta.

With these premises, IDEO Arquitectura has created a specific installation for the ceiling of the place, located in the middle of Alcala de Henares, that reaches an equilibrium with the masonry walls and the elements of the store designed by the office itself.

Description of the project by IDEO Arquitectura

The building is located within the historical centre of Alcala de Henares. The place is on the ground floor of the building and when we began to demolish the walls, both inside and on the facade, we realized we didn't have to invent a lot. The passing of time and the successive reforms have achieved the brick walls to speak for themselves giving the space a huge personality.

To achieve a contemporary design, which was our initial goal, we had to search for an item of strong character to compete, without shading, with the consistency of the 150-year-old walls. Finally, after letting ourselves go, we designed an art installation to hang from the ceiling of over 12,000 "strawberry pirulos" or wooden sticks, which has become the focus of attention.

Furthermore, in this project we have designed the lighting, part of the furniture such as tables, stools, shelves, bar and blackboards. Light boxes for the light of the facade, etc.

In the pictures you can see different details of finishings as well as the micro-concrete pavement of high quality that gives the space a fine constructive elegance.
