SHOVK architecture studio has developed a project of a minimalist home that dominates the mountainous environment in which it is located. Located in Bali, Indonesia, the villa manages to stand out from the lush vegetation and characteristic cliffs of the area.

The house consists of three main volumes, which open to the views thanks to the panoramic approach of its enclosures. This causes the nature of the environment and the house to intertwine in perfect harmony.
Villa W designed by SHOVK is developed on two floors. The first is a marble stylobate, which, together with the terrace and the infinity pool, blends into the landscape. This also has a common day area and a gym, in addition to the areas designated for housing facilities. The upper floor is characterized by its curved shape, which seeks to break with the stricter geometry of the rest of the villa.

Access to the house is through a hidden entrance in a completely empty façade without gaps that contrasts with the spacious and intimate hall that places you in front of impressive views that overlook the mountainous landscape and the ocean, which are achieved through the panoramic approach of the large glass enclosures in the kitchen and living room.

Project description by SHOVK

Villa W is a modern minimalist villa in the mountains, contrasting with its surroundings become a unique visual that captures people’s eyes. The volume of the house consists of three blocks that create an unforgettable architectural character.

The first one is a marble-topped stylobate with a terrace and infinity pool overhanging the cliffs, lush Balinese greenery, and wild mountain landscape.

The second is the ground floor, which includes a daytime common area, a gym, and technical premises.

The third is a curved, overhanging first floor with night zone rooms, contrasting with other, stricter forms.

Entering the house through a hidden entrance door in a completely blank facade with no window, passing the spacious but intimate entrance hall, we find ourselves in front of stunning views of the mountains and the ocean, opening through the huge panoramic glazing of the kitchen and living room.

To the right of the entrance to the house is a mini-gym with access to a narrow, secluded courtyard with a swimming pool and outdoor shower.

In addition to the stunning views of the island’s landscapes, which open up from literally every corner of the house thanks to the panoramic glazing of the ground and first floors, several other places inside the house make it clear that the house and nature are intertwined, becoming one.
