From 2 to 5 November 2002, the 1st MATCOAM Construction Week, organized by the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), will be held at its headquarters in the city centre. The focus on innovation and sustainability together with the privileged location in one of the most popular areas of the capital, as well as its accessible format, with a more comfortable scale for the visitor, make this event an unmissable event. Public access is free, but prior registration is required on the 1st Construction Week (SC) website.

In addition, the I SC hosts various activities that make it an unbeatable platform for debate, training, and networking. Thus, the Thematic Forums are meetings between architects and companies around the main areas of the I SC: Technology and Innovation (2 November); Sustainability (3 November); Prefabrication and Industrialisation (4 November), and Rehabilitation (5 November).
The conference program features top-level studios such as Foster + Partners, Estudio Herreros, Ruiz-Larrea & Asociados, Patxi Mangado, b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos, Andrés Jaque, Paredes Pedrosa, Amann-Cánovas-Maruri, De la Vega Cano Lasso, PMMT and Pich Architects, who will address the challenges facing the sector, showcasing success stories and disruptive projects. The proposed activities will be enriched with the exhibition of the 5th MATCOAM Awards throughout the 1st Construction Week and the different presentations that the winners will make about their projects.

I SC congress will be complemented by several professional courses, given free of charge by the COAM's Institute of Continuing Education, and guided tours will be organized for groups of university students. In addition, on Saturday 5 November, a children's workshop on architecture will be held by Chiquitectos. The agenda of activities will close with a round table debate on women in the building, made up of experts in architecture and design, administration, the real estate sector, and construction.
