Studio Symbiosis
Studio Symbiosis is an architecture, urban planning, and interior design studio based in Stuttgart, Germany, and Delhi, India founded by Amit Gupta and Britta Knobel Gupta in 2010.
Amit Gupta was born in Delhi, India, and moved to London in 2004 to pursue a Master's in Architecture and Urbanism from Architectural Association upon graduation he joined Zaha Hadid Architects from 2006 to 2010.
Amit started his own practice in 2010 by winning the prestigious Athletic Ripples sports complex Competition. Studio Symbiosis has since been involved in projects of various scales and sectors, encompassing spheres of Urbanism, Commercial, Residential and Master planning projects. His design ethos is a strong focus on computational design fused with sustainable design solutions to achieve a rich spatial landscape creating a performance-driven space.
He gave a TEDx talk in Bremen Germany 2015 on the topic of “Performative Aesthetics”. He also spoke at Smart Geometry Hong Kong, A.A. Visiting School Bangalore and Delhi.
Britta Knobel Gupta was born in Stuttgart, Germany, she pursued her Architectural studies in Konstanz, Germany and Lyon, France. She received a scholarship in 2004 to study M. Arch and Urbanism DRL from the Architectural Association School of Architecture London. In 2006 she joined Zaha Hadid Architects and was involved in a number of seminal projects as Lead Project Architect which achieved international acclaim; Abu Dhabi Performing Arts Centre Broad Art Museum in Michigan and the Dubai opera house. She is also a professor at various architectural schools in Britain, Germany and India.
In 2010, Britta Knobel Gupta co-founded Studio Symbiosis Architects with Amit Gupta. As an invited speaker she gave prominent talks at TEDx Germany, Smart Geometry Hong Kong and CIBF Congress by AIT in Hamburg Germany and was featured by CNN.

Her design philosophy fuses sustainability and computational optimization to create smarter, more ecologically sound solutions. Blurring the lines between landscape and architecture and allowing nature to permeate within the building is a defining feature of her practice and can be reflected in her work.
