Sánchez González
Ricardo Sánchez González was born in Madrid in 1978. He studied at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), where he has been an associate professor in the Department of Architectural Design since 2011.
He has been invited to the Syracuse School of Architecture in Sicily, the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the University of Alcalá de Henares, the School of Architecture, Art, and Design of the Monterrey Institute of Technology, the European Design Institute in Madrid, the Lausanne School of Architecture in Switzerland, and the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, both in Madrid and Pamplona, among other places.
He has given lectures on his projects in Valencia, Madrid, Segovia, Valladolid, Naples, and Syracuse.
He has held exhibitions in Naples, Bari, Venice, Ravenna, Cesena, and Madrid, among others.
He has won first prizes in various competitions: public spaces, public housing, educational buildings, government buildings, and architectural heritage restoration.
Since 2011, he has collaborated with architect José Ignacio Linazasoro. His joint projects include the University Campus of the University of Valladolid (2005–2014), the Renovation of the Puerta del Sol area in Madrid (2014–2023), and the competition wins include the Extension of the Bas-Rhin General Council in Strasbourg (2011), the Renovation of the Zigherane building in Rovereto (2012), the Renovation of the Museum of Fine Arts in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (2015), the Renovation of the area around the Basilica of Notre Dame du Port in Clermont Ferrand (2019), the Renovation of the area around the Basilica of Notre Dame des Miracles in Mauriac (2019), and recently the renovation of the entrances to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid (2024) and the renovation of the Ministry of Culture, also in Madrid (2025).
Outside of the studio's activities, he has won various awards, including five public housing developments for the EMVS (Spanish Social Housing Association) in Madrid, 88 homes in Ntra. Sra. de los Ángeles NSA 3 (2010–2020), 87 homes in Ntra. Sra. de los Ángeles NSA 11 (2011–2020), 205 homes in Vallecas NSA 14 (2019–2025), 73 homes in Vallecas La Rosilla 3 (2019–2024), 100 homes in VAL 62 (2021–2021), and an exhibition hall in Miranda de Ebro (2008).
He has received awards such as the Iconic Awards for the Segovia Campus and the Moreno Mansilla Award for Troyes, and a COAM Award mention for the Remodeling of the Puerta del Sol area in Madrid (2024).
He has published his projects in national and international architecture journals such as Arquitectura Viva, AV, Casabella, among others.
He has published his first monograph, Linazasoro&Sánchez Arquitectura 1994-2020. TC Cuadernos. Valencia 2020, which includes his main built projects: Phase I and Phase II of the University Campus of the University of Valladolid in Segovia, the redesign of the Puerta del Sol area in Madrid, the renovation of the Zigherane building in Rovereto, Italy, and the Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles 11 housing development.
