Reisewitz
Caio Reisewitz. Artist whose work revolves mainly around photography. Through technical refinement, his compositions demonstrate a particular interest in human actions and their social and political effects, both in natural and architectural spaces.
His photographic technique explores the relationship between light and shadow, shapes, colors and textures, while his artistic poetics construct a repertoire that can represent both the harshness of humanity and the poetic aspects of urban and natural environments. Reisewitz often creates a dialogue between the real and the illusory in his work, questioning both space as landscape and landscape as space.
His interest in nature examines untouched exuberance, while his exploration of architecture focuses on Brazilian Baroque and Modernism, and their power dynamics, as can be seen in his work *UTOPIAS UNDER SIEGE*, presented at the 51st Venice Biennale in the Brazilian Pavilion. Reisewitz holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Mainz (Germany), with an additional specialization in Visual Poetics, and a master's degree from the University of São Paulo. He has participated in numerous international biennials and has exhibited in important institutions, such as the International Center of Photography in New York, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, MUSAC - Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León (Spain), Martin-Gropius-Bau Berlin (Germany), Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection Miami (USA), Moreira Salles Institute in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), the 10th Chengdu Biennial (China), the 23rd Sydney Biennial (Australia), and recently the DongGang Biennale (Korea). His works are part of important collections worldwide.
