Moyao Arquitectos
José de Arimatea Moyao López is founder and general director of Moyao Arquitectos since 1985. His first job, even as a student, was with Architect Honorato Carrasco Navarrete to whom he is still grateful for his teachings.
He studied Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM and spent 37 years as a professor of Projects at the same Faculty.
In 1984 with his thesis, "The Habitat of Tomorrow", he won 1st place in the "World Competition for Young Architects", held in Paris, organized by UNESCO, jury chaired by Architects Kenzō Tange, Alvaro Siza, Pedro Ramirez Vazquez, to name a few.
He won 1st place in the "International Competition for the Architectural Project, Telmex Auditorium of 10,000 spectators, of the University Cultural Center of the University of Guadalajara".
Among his works are the Foro Sol; Remodeling of the Orfeón Theater; Remodeling of the Metropolitan Theater; General Archive and Office Building of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation; Model Museum of Science and Industry MUMCI (Toluca); Imperial Forum (Acapulco); Centro de Espectáculos y Exposiciones Salitre Mágico (Bogotá, Colombia); Centro Expositor Pepsi Center at the WTC; Adaptation of Teatro Telcel; Teatro Morelos (Toluca); Corporativo Sanirent; Frontón México; Auditorio /Teatro Toma de Zacatecas (Zacatecas); Teatro Ingenio (Los Mochis, Sinaloa); Fachada Liverpool Esfera (Monterrey, N. He has exhibited his work at the Contemporary Mexican Architecture Exhibition at the Mexican Embassy in Berlin; at the "Habitat of Tomorrow" Exhibition at UNESCO headquarters in Paris; and at the 1985 Tsukuba World Expo in Japan. He taught the "Catedra Federico Mariscal" in 2012, the highest recognition of the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM granted to the professional career.
Received recognition for "Sustainable Reconversion" at EXPO CIHAC 2012. Winner of the silver medal at the Biennial of Architecture 2017, with the remodeling of Frontón México. Winner in the "Innovation in Construction" category for CEMEX Building Award 2018 with the Liverpool Esfera Facade project. Gold medal in the cultural category "Auditoriums and Theaters" and double silver medal as a finalist in the World Biennial of Interior and Landscape Design 2020 with the ShowCenter Complex project. CAM-SAM 2021 recognition for merit and professional trajectory, "Luis Barragán Award for Project".
