Dubois

Rob Dubois was born in The Hague, the Netherlands. He studied architecture at the University of Delft, where he obtained a master's degree cum laude together with Anton Gregoire on the topic of recovering a dignified space for death and dying in today's society. Once he finished his studies, he moved to Barcelona, where he founded his studio 'Rob Dubois • architect' in the late nineties. To date, he has carried out more than 130 projects in the provinces of Barcelona and Girona. At the same time, he has collaborated with architects such as Lucas & Ellerman, Ricardo Bofill, Arderiu & Morató, Tonet Sunyer and 'DKHH' (Dubois Kobari Hidalgo y Hartmann) on mainly cultural buildings within Catalonia. His projects and work built by him have been awarded by the FAD, the AJAC, the Girona Architecture Prize or the Baix Llobregat Triennal. His work has been included in the permanent exhibition 'Dutch Architects Abroad' located at Schiphol, Amsterdam Airport.

His work focuses on continuous research to find specific compositions, balanced geometrically and volumetrically, to develop the most exact response possible for complex assignments. The material and cultural context of the projects - such as existing local typologies or structural solutions - are always taken into account in order to properly integrate the proposal into its environment.
